Equipment Refresh Service
Identify and replace technology that is ending a lease cycle and requires updating to current ebc and OPS standards.
- Ensure a base level of performance across the ebc Cluster which optimizes performance vs price for desktop and laptop configurations at any one time,
- conformity to Government-wide policies and procedures around equipment standardization and leasing
- cost-effective maintenance of equipment
- continuity of operations and procedures
- Notify ebc business managers at least one month before a lease termination affecting them, 95% of the time
- Standard workstation and laptop equipment configuration will be re-evaluated at least quarterly for price and performance characteristics
- All new configurations will be tested for compatibility with ebc standard software and a base image created,
- old equipment will be picked up and disposed of by the lessor with a minimum of 1 day disruption to clients, 95% of the time

How are we doing ?
- Use NARF form to provide proper authorization and accurately complete information for all account and group set-ups, changes and deletions
- Advise the Service Desk when staff leave and User Ids and accounts should be removed
- E-mail properly completed NARF to the EBC Service Desk
- Contact Service Desk for password resets or locked accounts
Administrative costs are paid through an annual appropriation to the ebcIT Division through the Ministry of Labour as negotiated during the annual government-wide fiscal budgeting process.
Business Units are charged annually for yearly portion of total leased costs of equipment ordered.
6. Dependencies
Vendor cooperation in selecting new equipment standards
- continued availability of equipment Vendor as MBS Vendor of Record (Standing Agreement 2962)
- Business management completes Equipment Return Form and Purchase Orders within 2 weeks of lease termination date
- business units are responsible for ensuring old equipment is available and in a condition suitable for return to leasing company
- business units must make premises available for equipment pick-up and delivery
- identify equipment that is nearing the end of its current lease,
- Notify ebc customers that a technology update is in order
- Determine current equipment availability and pricing from Vendor of Record (VOR) for equipment which Cluster uses,
- Assess available models for ebc standard equipment on regular basis, test for compatibility with ebc images and select as new standard(s)
- Coordinates arrangements with various teams to expedite the refresh or to remove unwanted technology.
